Hefty-Hacks
Hefty-Hacks is a fully online Finance x Trading hackathon by TechZap running Oct 24 to Nov 1, 2026. Teams build trading systems, fintech, risk engines and DeFi products around a narrow defensible niche, ending with a 36-hour build sprint on Oct 31 to Nov 1.
参赛资格 / Eligibility
Open globally for online participation, hack from anywhere. Teams of 2 to 6 members required, no solo entries allowed. Registration is free. Top 10 teams may access hiring rounds with companies, subject solely to each company's own eligibility criteria and recruitment policies. Other participant restrictions not specified.
交付物 / Deliverables
Ship a working product in Finance, Trading, or Fusion tracks. Examples include payments, lending, fraud and risk tools, RegTech, DeFi protocols, algo and HFT engines, derivatives tooling, prediction signals, and backtesting tools. Deliver a live demo that runs and withstands questions, plus a clear one-sentence niche thesis.
评审 / Judging
Judged on originality of the niche and how sharp and defensible the bet is, technical depth and whether the hard part was built, working demo performance under questions, and market insight and problem understanding. A sharp unique idea executed well beats a broad idea half-built. Judges include listed mentors.
限制 / Constraints
Date fields above come directly from the platform; they take precedence over timing mentioned in the AI brief. 100% online event. Must follow Code of Conduct. Pick Finance, Trading, or Fusion track or combine them. Generating the core idea directly from AI is strongly discouraged; teams should write their own thesis first and use AI only to critique and refine. Originality is scored. Platform timestamps provide explicit timezone.

Estimate: medium-high effort. Requires team coordination for 2-6 people over an 8-day window with an intense 36-hour final sprint. Expect prototype design, market research, coding of execution or prediction logic, testing, and demo preparation plus mentorship sessions.
