Code for Humanity
Global online hackathon inviting students, developers, designers to build technology for social good for underserved communities, improving access, accessibility and opportunity in health, education, disaster response and inclusion.
参赛资格 / Eligibility
Open to individuals above legal age of majority in country of residence. Listed as students only. Companies and professional organizations are excluded. Solo participation allowed, teams also allowed. Open to all countries and territories excluding standard exceptions. Full rules on source page govern final eligibility.
交付物 / Deliverables
Submit a technology product benefiting underserved or underrepresented communities by addressing a real problem, increasing accessibility, reducing inequality or creating opportunity. Include short demo video maximum 3 minutes showing functionality. Include link to public code repository such as GitHub. All code must be new work written during hackathon period, open-source libraries and frameworks permitted.
评审 / Judging
Judging criteria: Impact 30 percent for solving a real-world problem, Innovation 25 percent for creativity and novelty, Technical Excellence 20 percent for implementation quality and functionality, User Experience and Accessibility 15 percent for ease of use and inclusive design, Scalability and Sustainability 10 percent for growth and continued value. Judging panel includes invited professionals and researchers.
限制 / Constraints
Solution must focus on underserved communities such as low-income or rural areas, people with disabilities, refugees, under-resourced schools, marginalized groups, and areas with limited healthcare, education, technology or financial access. New code only during event period. Demo video limit 3 minutes. Public repository required. Registration deadline not specified separately from submission deadline.

Our estimate: Medium effort over extended period. Solo or small team can participate. Requires ideation focused on social impact, prototype development, 3-minute video production, and repository documentation. Beginner-friendly positioning, but competitive entries need working functionality, accessibility consideration, and impact narrative.

5 non-cash prizes. Categories include Certificate of Participation for all submissions, recognition for enthusiastic participation, Best Beginner Project for new builders, Most Innovative Project for boldest idea, Most Practical Project for real-world value, and Best Overall Project for innovation, technical excellence and social impact.
